Week 1: Kickoff Excitement and Disappointment
Happy Tuesday MFFL leaguemates! Well, for the teams that won that is. The rest of us losers are stuck in classic post Week 1 limbo of frustration and anxiety, worried that the once terrific team you drafted is actually just a shit-show. No yeah, you're right August, your team just had a bad week and scoring sub 70 is all part of the plan, no worries.
With Week 1 officially out of the way, we have our first rendition of the League Standings, 6 winners and 6 losers. Let's look back at the matchups to see how everything unfolded:
The Juice is Loose (1-0) defeats Kraft Beer (0-1) in a high scoring 131-120 affair. The season's first Wildcat Matchup of the Week did not disappoint, featuring tons of highlight touchdowns from both teams, such as a dominant jump ball win from WR Allen in the endzone for a 28 yard score for the Krafties, while the Juice Boxes celebrated a superb 19 yard touchdown scamper breaking multiple tackles en route to Pay Dirt. QB Jackson of the Juice Boxes was the difference maker in this one, scoring 44 points through 5 passing TDs and over 320 passing yards, absolutely torching the competition. QB Jackson did all this with only 3 rushing attempts for 6 yards, for all those who still doubt his passing ability. GM Kelly and the Juice Boxes get their season off to a great start while GM Ian and Kraft Beer have much to be optimistic about heading into Week 2.
Miking Mikes (1-0) upsets The Underachievers (0-1) with a late Monday Night touchdown from RB Jacobs. While GM Darren left a ton of production on the bench as usual, the rookie RB was a superstar who actually got the super-start in his NFL debut, scoring 27 points on a dominate 24 touches in true workhorse style. While QB Mahomes and RB Bell did their share in the losing effort with a combined 54 points, the rest of the Underachievers were right on brand, all failing to meet their projections, with RB Jones missing by nearly 10 points in an extremely disappointing performance. With WR Hill out for the foreseeable future with a collarbone injury, GM Dom will go back to the drawing board to reshape his lineup. Look for WR Sutton or RB Howard to get the promotion into the FLEX position if no trade or FA acquisition is made.
Bigpapihugetime (1-0) put on a fantasy clinic this weekend, breezing past the (0-1) Scoregasms. While GM Brody and the Gasms gave an excellent 142 point effort, they were no match for the 178 point firework show by GM Kurt and the Huge Times. Led by QB Prescott and WR Cooper, who combined for over 60 points, the Huge Times excelled all over the field, with 8 of their 9 starters surpassing projections. None more than RB Ekeler who, filling in for the holdout Gordon, amassed 35 points on 3 TDs and over 150 yards from scrimmage. the Papis will look to continue their hot start while Scoregasms will be looking forward to a winnable matchup as they finished in 2nd in points for the week.
Belichick Yo Self (1-0) squeeks passed the (0-1) Romanian RAPOs with another late Monday Night victory on the back of RB Lindsay. In a matchup where players disappointed all over the board, the RB position was where the difference was found. While RAPOs RBs Mixon and Kerryon combined for less than 10 points, RB Henry for the Yo Selfs scored a matchup high 29 points from 2 TDs and over 150 yards from scrimmage. Henry once again led the way to victory for reigning champion GM David as he scored 30% of his teams points for the week. With RB Mixon nursing an ankle injury that kept him out of most of the 2nd half, look to see how GM Michael prepares for Week 2 with a question mark over his star RB as the RAPOs look to keep PACE with the rest of the league and find their first win.
Tittsburgh Feelers (1-0) claim victory over Mr. Nice Guy (0-1) despite first overall pick RB McCaffrey's incredible effort. Run CMC did exactly that this weekend in the losing effort, scoring 31% of the points for the Nice Guys in the form of over 200 scrimmage yards and 2 TDs for 37 points. This was clearly not enough however, as WR Watkins and RB Mack for the Feelers matched CMCs production with 39 and 30 points of their own respectively. The Feelers head into Week 2 3rd in points in their 135-118 victory while GM Grafton and the Nice Guys will wonder if kindness can earn them their first victory of the season.
Leprechaun Soldiers (1-0) win by default. GM Connor was happy with the victory to kickoff the fantasy season, however told reporters he was disappointed to not actually have an opponent for the first week. Regardless, QB Watson still put up an impressive 37 point performance in an amazing comeback against the Saints (which was ruined by the worst defensive scheme on a 4th quarter field goal drive ever). The rest of the Irishmen had a mediocre performance and will surely need to pick up the slack next week when they face some actual competition.
With the season finally underway, there have been some big changes to the Power Rankings now that we have some actually performance to base off of. Read on to see how your favorite teams are shaping up for the early run on the season!

With the season finally underway, there have been some big changes to the Power Rankings now that we have some actually performance to base off of. Read on to see how your favorite teams are shaping up for the early run on the season!
- The Juice is Loose: Although GM Kelly and the Juice Boxes didn't finish with the highest score in the league, they certainly delivered on their promising projections in a well-rounded and sustainable effort, with even more potential for improvement.
- Bigpapihugetime: Shooting up the rankings after a dominant Week 1, GM Kurt and the Huge Times will certainly not be hitting the 170 point threshold every week, but demonstrated that they are a force to be reckoned with.
- Kraft Beer: Another well-rounded performance despite the defeat, GM Ian not only has an excellent starting lineup, but great weapons available on his bench to continue scoring in the 120s.
- Scoregasms: Surprising efforts from the Gasms puts GM Brody in the top 5 for now. Multiple players had multi-touchdown games which screams unsustainability, so expect some volatility from the Gasms until the settle into a proper role on their respective teams.
- Tittsburgh Feelers: GM Matt's excellent management was the key to victory, (make sure to check out the weekly awards for more). QB Mayfield will continue to get acclimated to his new look offense which is scary for the rest of the Feelers' competition.
- Leprechaun Soldiers: Despite no Gordon, the Soldiers looked promising in week 1. Whether or not RB Jones II is a solid replacement remains to be seen, but GM Connor has a lot to work with in his arsenal.
- Miking Mikes: Rookie RB Jacobs seems like a gem so far, while fellow RB Conner will surely get back on track soon to compliment the consistent WR tandem of Thomans and Thielen. a little TNT anyone?
- Belichick Yo Self: GM David will be pleased with the win however will need to find more production apart from just RB Henry.
- Romanian RAPOs: GM Michael and injured star RBs. Name a more iconic duo.
- The Underachievers: You can count on GM Dom to do one thing and thankfully he put it in his team name.
- 5 Year Plan: Did anyone check on GM August? He must have thought the season starts on September 15.
- Mr. Nice Guy: Another RB injury to Guice really cripples the Nice Guys as they have no viable replacements available. Expect GM Grafton to splash some cash on the waiver wire.

Wildcat Matchup of the Week:
GM Kelly returns to the matchup of the Week as The Juice is Loose (1-0) takes on GM Brody and the Scoregasms (0-1). Two teams both on the top end of the Power Rankings but on opposite ends of the Standings will clash head to head as GM Brody faces another tough test to find his first victory of the season. Key matchups to watch will be at teh RB position where Scoregasm RBs Williams and Carson will look to keep pace with the electric Chubb and Cook combo of the Juice Boxes. I'm predicting another Juice Box win as QB Jackson continues to light up the league against the Cardinals while Ertz and Diggs show up big time in week 2 for the victory. Another bad break for GM Brody as he once again puts up top numbers in the league.
That's all for the Weekly Wrap-Up! Make sure to check out the Weekly Awards for week 1 as well as the Pickem Point Spread for all of the Week 2 matchups! Good luck in Week 2 everyone!!
