Week 10
Welcome back to the Weekly Wrap Up. *Cough* *Cough*, sorry I'm still choking a little from Monday night. The rest of the league still remains competitive and the playoff race is reaching peak intensity as multiple teams must win out to qualify while we have a 3 headed race for the first round byes. Furthermore, GM Kurt has opted out of the opportunity to repeat as Millbrook Fantasy Champion and instead compete in the Inaugural Dansky Tournament, joining Grafton's A Bum and Crunching Munchies as the first set of teams to qualify for the postseason competition. For the rest of the teams still fighting to qualify however, let's take a look at the Power Rankings to see how things might shape up.
- Mr. Nice Guy: no questions here
- Ravioli Ravioli: GM Ian finally gets his wish as RBs CMC and Zeke are unfuckwitable while WRs Sanders and Edelman are not to be trifled with. QB Cam will be the orchestrator as they look to make a deep run into the playoffs.
- Scoregasms: They sneak by with a close win thanks to the curse even after disappointing. But with the reemergence of RB Johnson, Brady and Cohen can return back up the ranks in time for the playoffs.
- Hoochie Mamas: No Green no problem, for GM August, someone else will randomly step up. The Mamas seam incapable of scoring less than 110 points when they operate with Barkley and Ertz.
- Ravagn' Rainbows: An explosion brings them back into the top 5, but Kupp season ending injury raises more questions for GM Connor and the Rainbows.
- Tittsburgh Feelers: A poor week after 2 straight 140+ performances, they need Watson.
- Bigpapihugetime: Another loss but the superstars are there with Thomas, Hopkins, and Mixon. If RB Davis can maintain production, they will finish strong provided they finally find a Franchise QB.
- Miking Mikes: The worst team in the playoffs, Kamara wants all the smoke but GM Darren can't handle it without coughing. Maybe Carson or Penny will finally solve the supporting RB problem but I doubt it.
- Grafton's A Bum: A second straight 100+ point week for the Bums thanks to Odell and an Aaron Jones trade that doesn't look too bad now. Check the receipts because I told you guys.
- Belichick Yo Self: They are gonna need more than just a balanced diet to make it back to the playoffs and RB Michel is their only shot.
- Crunching Munchies: Their best week of the season comes at the same time as Fournette's first full game? Weird
- Pasca's Daddy: Yeah Dom you suck dude.
Now with only a 3 weeks left to go in the regular season, let's take a first look at the Playoff Picture. Here we will be able to keep track of what each team needs to get in, who's on their way out, and the predictions from the studio!
MFFL Championship:
First Round Byes
1. Scoregasms (9-1) 2. Mr. Nice Guy (7-3)
GM Brody and the Scoregasms hold a two game buffer for the first round bye after becoming the first team to cement their spot in the MFFL 2018 Playoffs. A victory over the Hoochie Mamas this upcoming week will ensure they'll be at home resting come week 14 as they would secure a first round bye. GM Grafton and Mr. Nice Guy, although not boasting the incredible, and fraudulent, record of the Scoregasms, lead the league in scoring with 1255 points, nearly 100 more than second place and will benefit from the Scoregasms vs Hoochie Mamas matchup, both of whom are their only competition for the bye week positions.
Leaders of the Pack
3. Hoochie Mamas (7-3) 4. Ravioli Ravioli (6-4)
The two leaders of the pack have the SeatGeek tab open on Playoff Tickets, but are just deciding which seat they like before they buy and secure their spot. Both teams have an outside chance on making a claim for the First Round Bye should the teams above them falter, but it is GM August and the Hoochie Mamas who have a direct chance but will need help from the Raviolis who play both of the top two teams in the upcoming weeks. I have both teams remaining in the 3rd and 4th positions, but GM Ian and the Raviolis have a tough two games to finish out the season and could be in trouble should they drop this week against Belichick Yo Self.
In the Hunt
5. Tittsburgh Feelers (6-4) 6. Miking Mikes (6-4)
7. Ravagn' Rainbows (5-5)
These three teams are right in the Playoff storm and all have must win match-ups to keep control of their destiny. GM Matt and Tittsburgh Feelers have been a high variance team all season and will need to strip out their three most consistent games to finish out the season as they face the scariest 3 game schedule of all time. Matt will need his team to rally to find 2 victories over Mr. Nice Guy, Hoochie Mamas, and Scoregasms. GM Darren and Miking Mikes have endured countless managerial misdecisions and mixups but stand at the edge of the cutoff with complete control: Win 1 of the next 2 games and face GM Connor and Ravagn' Rainbows in a win and in, do or die, matchup in Week 13. Is anyone else getting flashbacks of the ending of the 2017 season? For all the betting men following the league, the over-under for transactions GM Darren makes before that Week 13 matchup is 4.5. Comment your predictions below and everyone who gets it right will be prized with a congratulatory high five, fist bump, handshake, or hug of your choice.
On the Bubble
8. Belichick Yo Self (5-5) 9. Pasca's Daddy (4-6)
Daddy and the Yo Selfs are standing on the edge of the cliff, staring down at the Dark, Dansky Depths, Deep Down below. One slip up, fumble, sack, or 10 yard catch when you need 13 from your tight end in the final drive of a Monday Night matchup, and hasta luego mis amigos David and Dom porque I actually will see you later in the Dansky Tournament. GM David and Yo Self actually has a straight shot to the Playoffs provided Ravagn' Rainbows drops one game against a team not named Miking Mikes who also lose 1 other. In this scenario, provided Belichick Yo Self wins out, they will hop over both the Mikes and the Rainbows to sneak into the final, 6th seed. Daddy and GM Dom conversely need a mini-miracle from the Fantasy gods, where either Tittsburgh or the Mikes must lose out, Rainbows must drop their first 2, but beat the Mikes, and David must falter at least once. Both teams still have a chance of qualifying with a points-scored tiebreaker, however must really outscore their competition to have any shot at winning the tiebreaker. Don't count these teams out just yet, except for Dom, because he sucks.
Dansky Watch
10. Bigpapihugetime (3-7) 11. Grafton's A Bum (2-8)
12. Crunching Munchies (0-10)
The Triumphant Triumvirate have all skipped the lines and secured a Fast Pass Ticket to the Inaugural Dansky Tournament. GM Michael and the Munchies planned ahead and purchased the All-Access, Backstage Bye Week Pass to the Dansky Bowl and will be preparing for the Week 15 festivities. Meanwhile, GM Kurt of the Huge Times and GM Kelly and the Bums are still in contention for the 2nd Backstage Bye Week Pass as a Week 13 matchup between the two teams will seemingly be the ultimate decider of who gets the gloriful week off from Fantasy.
Matchup Highlights:
Ravioli Ravioli (6-4) extended its winning streak to 5 with another Wildcat Matchup of the Week victory, this time over Bigpapihugetime (3-7). The 119-90 scoreline tells the story in this one where RBs CMC and Zeke filed their claim for the best RB duo in the league with a combined 63 points, doubling the points from the 3 Papi RBs Mixon, Davis, and Drake. While WR Thomas kept the competition going with 19 points, he missed his partner in crime, Hopkins, who was on bye.
The (9-1) Scoregasms survived their best competition of the season from the winless Crunching Munchies (0-10) in a tense 96.96-96.62 matchup that came down to the very last play of the week. Fournette returned to play his first full game of the season for the Munchies with 23 points while fellow RB Ingram continued the ground game grind with 22 points of his own while their opponent RB Johnson outscored them both with 30 points. GM Michael was to blame here as despite his team's best performance of the season, he left stars Ebron and Kerryon on the bench who outscored their replacements by 39 points. Nevertheless, with a chance to secure the first win of the season in a Monday Night comeback, TE Engram came up 4 yards short as he failed to beat the last defender for a game winning TD on the final drive of the game. The curse continues and with luck like this, GM Brody and Scoregasms appear unbeatable.
For Pasca's Daddy (4-6), the other side of the rainbow yields a clusterfuck of Ls and a straight up beat down. Ravagn' Rainbows (5-5) exploded back into form beating GM Dom and Pasca's Daddy for nearly 100 points, 155-59, the largest blowout of the season and second in league history. Anyone who remembers the MFFL record for largest blowout gets a free high five, comment below. With no WR Thielen to carry Pasca's Daddy, they were left stranded and helpless to the only place worse than being on the wrong end of the DTDB moment of the week, Finn Island. WRs Hill and Smith-Schuster flew for double miles this weekend with a combined 42 points while Pilot Roethlesberger flew up and over the rainbow for 46 points. RB Gordon completed the job by ushering GM Dom off the plane after landing and onto Finn Island with a full amenity package and all expense paid for L.
Media Conference:
GM Brody of Scoregasms addressed the media after a nail biter victory over the winless Crunching Munchies. He explained that "last night's win was huge since we need to secure a first round bye in the playoffs. Emotions were at an all time high [late Monday Night] when Engram got knocked out at the 3 yard line instead of scoring. My heart was beating faster than ever," he chuckled. When asked about his plan for continuing his success into the playoffs Brody explained that "the key to our future success is finding a quarterback that doesn't get benched and also figuring out the true dynamic of my two TE offense. If we are going to win, I need Cohen and Kittle to perform up to their true potential." Finally, when a few reporters raised questions on his teams firepower and ability to keep offenses like Mr. Nice Guy and Hoochie Mamas at bay in the playoffs GM Brody silenced everyone and pointed to the results: "Even though there are claims that I get lucky at times, rest assured that GM Michael is still #winless."
GM Connor also welcomed the media into his conference room to bask in the glory of the return of the trademark Rainbows' explosive offense. "The biggest thing for this week is that my players lived up to their expectations and were able to all perform at the same time. We've had problems with players only doing well sometimes and not necessarily all at the same time. It just all came together this week as it was fantastic to put GM Dom back on the bottom." Currently looking on the outside in on the playoffs, Connor expressed that he's "not too worried about the rest of this year. The playoff push is not something that is new to me and I built this team to sustain itself going forward. However don't be surprised if you see more deals going forward to improve the team. Either way, I'm guaranteeing The Rainbows will ravage the rest of the competition and expect a return to the playoffs." Oozing with confidence, GM Connor is clearly not bothered by Miking Mikes who they must face as their biggest obstacle into the playoffs nor anyone else in the league.
GM David welcomed the media late Tuesday evening to give us a look into a team dinner for the entire Belichick Yo Self squad catered by their world renowned nutritionists and dietitians. David emphasized the importance of a healthy and balanced diet to maintain production and health throughout the season: "You eat healthy during the week, you eat the W on Sunday." He was also delighted to have star RB Michel return from injury as his team had seen a great drop in production ever since he went down. "I'm expecting big things from Michel when he comes off of his bye week. Miller will be back and my receiving core is at an all time high right now. The chemistry is rolling and we are expecting a big push. We have clutched out in years past and I am looking to continue that trend." GM David also addressed the recent statements given out by GM Connor who has ensured his team will claim the final playoff spot over the Yo Selfs: "I think Connor is still resting on his laurels. At the end of the day, Connor happened to win a championship one season and this season ins't it. I don't know what else to say other than I have an inspired locker room that is ready to play, and I can't say the same about the Rainbows."
Weekly Awards:
- Murphy Mixup:
You all know what's coming. GM Michael from the Munchies ran away with the Mixup award this week with 3 start-sit decisions, all of which he got wrong. If any one of RB Kerryon Johnson (19 points), WR Tyler Lockett (15 points), or TE Eric Ebron (25 points) had gotten the start, the Munchies walk out of Week 10 with their first win of the season. Instead, GM Michael dropped the ball, starting newly acquired TE Engram (4.6 points) and RB Ito Smith (2.6 points). The mistakes resulted in a TE Engram coming up 4 yards short of victory Monday Night as GM Michael and the Munchies lose their 6th game on Monday Night.
- Oh Boy! Play of the Week:
GM Grafton of Mr. Nice Guy is awarded with the Oh Boy! Play of the Week for starting two newly acquired Defense and Kicker, Buffalo Bills and Dustin Hopkins, both scoring 12 points en route to victory. The heads up transactions and start-sit decisions have been at the forefront of Mr. Nice Guys astounding campaign this season and plays like these will be the key on the road to the MFFL Championship.
- DTDB Moment of the Week:
GM Darren has taken complete control, strapping on his seatbelt and riding GM Dom and his team who has now lost 6 of their last 7 games and are now without RB Bell for the entire season. Instead, Darren has strapped the victory bell around Dom's neck as the sweet sound rings with each added thrust of success. Darren explained the key to his recent dominance: the most powerful position is on your knees... for prayer that is.
- Pasca's Ponderable:
Why is this happening to me? What could I have done to piss off the Fantasy gods this much for them to mock and toy with me? Who freaking trades a kicker for a tight end anyway?
Next Week's Matchups:
- Scoregasms (9-1) vs Hoochie Mamas (7-3): Wildcat Matchup of the Week
Both teams need the win to keep pace with Mr. Nice Guy for the First Round Bye, and with a win, the Hoochie Mamas will clinch their spot for the playoffs. Scoregasms will be praising the return of WR Diggs this week while GM August and the Mamas will be ruing the WR Green injury as RB Mack can't keep pace with Barkley and Mahomes against Kelce and Woods.
- Belichick Yo Self (5-5) vs Ravioli Ravioli (6-4):
GM David and Belichick Yo Self will have to rely on WRs Brown and Adams to carry the load this week with RB Michel on bye while the Raviolis continue to torch their competition, operating near full strength.
- Pasca's Daddy (4-6) vs Grafton's A Bum (2-8):
The Bums get graced with a 3rd win of the season over GM Dom and Pasca's Daddy who can't seam to get anything right as of late, starting 2 backup RBs. Look for WR Odell to run circles, squares, triangles, and new undiscovered shapes around the competition.
- Tittsburgh Feelers (6-4) vs Mr. Nice Guy (7-3):
An important matchup for both teams with big playoff implications for the structure of the rest of the league. A win for the Nice guys will put them in a dominant spot to control the first round bye while the Feelers can change the tide of the playoff push, putting pressure on Hoochie Mamas and Ravioli Ravioli with a win, while also being chased by a calvary of teams behind them, all of whom are ready to knock them out of the playoffs should they drop here. La Rams vs Kansas City is essentially this matchup and the winner of that game will put one of the teams in excellent position for the victory as Hunt and Watkins attempt to keep pace with Cooks and Gurley.
- Crunching Munchies (0-10) vs Ravagn' Rainbows (5-5):
The return of Fournette presented the Munchies with their best offensive performance of the season and full operations for the upset should be set for the game against GM Connor and the Rainbows with full opportunity to play spoiler. Ravagn' Rainbows will also be operating with the return of RB Cook and will not easily squander the chance to make the Munchies go 0-11, having lost to every single team in the league.
- Miking Mikes (6-4) vs Bigpapihugetime (3-7):
The Mikes have struggled through victories as of late but will face reigning champion: Huge Times who have excelled at WR but struggled all season with RBs. This game comes down to the supporting RB role between Carson and Davis.
That's all for the Weekly Wrap-up! Good luck to all the teams fighting for playoff spots in these final 3 weeks. May everyone make it through this final week of classes and fantasy before Thanksgiving and just keep in mind, whatever struggles you and your Fantasy team are facing, I guarantee you mine and the Munchies' are much greater. Honeycutt Football returns next week, may the force be with you until then.
