Week 4
And then there was one... GM Brody and the Scoregasms stand alone, perfect, atop the Millbrook Fantasy League after defeating the only other undefeated team, Pasca's Daddy. On the other end of the spectrum, Crunching Munchies fall yet again, remaining winless as we enter week 5. The rest of the league is packed in the middle. As we enter the second third of the regular season, the table is still close and open for any one to take the reigns and break out in front, or catch up from behind. Let's take a look at the power rankings and take a look back at our Week 4 performances.
- Ravagn' Rainbows: GM Connor and his dominant, super team put up another superb showing week 4 despite their RBs catching a vast case of the injury bug. With their entire team in good form, this team should be able to sleepwalk into the playoffs no questions asked.
- Tittsburgh Feelers: 3 consecutive 110+ weeks has seen the Feelers and GM Matt shoot up the rankings and into 3rd place in the standings with a 3-1 record. As long as Deshawn Watson and Kareem Hunt continue to perform, Tittsburgh Feelers looks like they have fully arrived at the top of the rankings, and are here to stay.
- Mr. Nice Guy: 90 points from 3 players should tell the story for itself. The Nice Guys are a team that can blow up at any moment each week. Gurley is a lock every week for 20+ points and with playmakers oozing with talent at every position, Mr. Nice Guy certainly has the highest ceiling in the league and if GM Grafton can turn skill into consistency, he is staring at a potential championship team.
- Hoochie Mamas: Sneakily sitting in the middle of the standings at 2-2, GM August and his Hoochie Mamas could easily deserve to be 4-0. With Showtime Mahomes and a trio of RBs that know the meaning of importance of balance, added with the big play ability of AJ Green, continue to expect high scoring weeks from the Mamas.
- Miking Mikes: GM Darren skipped his media conference this morning to personally give Kamara a neck and back massage. Why? Because he is carrying the Mikes all by himself. The Alvin Kamaras continue to remain right outside the upper end of the rankings simply by how great he is and if any of the pieces around him start to show any intent of giving solid performances, GM Darren can stop complaining. He'll still complain either way but... oh well.
- Ravioli Ravioli: GM Ian publicly slandered the selection committee for their audacity to rank his team so poorly, and after another exceptional performance, they responded with a solid bump up to 6th. Even without Cam and CMC, The Raviolis put up great numbers from Zeke, White, and Jeffrey despite a tough defeat against the inaugural champion.
- Bigpapihugetime: Led by supreme WR core: Hopkins, Thomas, and Tate, The Huge Times just need RBs, and desperately. With Mixon returning soon and Breida or Ekeler replacing Drake, GM Kurt and his team could be on the rise to rise up the standings in the coming weeks.
- Pasca's Daddy: Suffering his first defeat of the season, Daddy Dom and his team have gotten worse with each coming week. Thielen and Lynch continue to perform while the early, electrifying performances of Evans, Golladay, and Morris have since been grounded. Unless changes are made, expect Pasca's Daddy's fall back to normality to continue.
- Scoregasms: Sitting alone, undefeated at the top of the table, The Scoregasms curse continues where every team that faces GM Brody, suffers its worst performance of the season. (this is actually factual guys, all 4 teams had their worst game of the season against Brody so far). They have yet to put up back to back solid weeks and until that happens, they will remain low on the power rankings despite their perfect record.
- Belichick Yo Self: Yikes. A 68 point week for GM David sees them plummet down the rankings despite the emergence of RB Michel. AB needs more help though, and I don't see where its going to come from.
- Grafton's A Bum: Double Yikes, underperforming stars and back to back 70 point weeks tell the story for the Bums, a subpar team that isn't living up to their poor potential.
- Crunching Munchies: Another loss and more injuries seem just about right for GM Michael and the Munchies. Although they have improved each week of the season, they are the only team yet to eclipse the 100 point mark for a game. We will see if Freeman returns to save this team from the deep, dark, depths.
Matchup Highlights:
- In the battle of the only two undefeated teams, Scoregasms cruised onto another easy victory over Pasca's Daddy in the Wildcat Matchup of The Week 116-90. GM Brody has to be pleased with the balance and depth his team showed this week, having 6 players put up double digit points, while also not forcing any player to carry the load. Tom Brady led the scoring this week with 22% of Scorgasms' points which was starkly juxtaposed by Pasca's Daddy's reliance on Wentz, Thielen, and Lynch who accounted for 66% of their teams scoring. As GM Dominic and Pasca's Daddy suffer their first defeat of the season and fall to 3-1, they will look to right the track next week while Brody and the Scoregasms aim to prolong their undefeated run into week 5.
- Ravagn' Rainbows and Ravioli Ravioli found themselves in a shootout late Sunday, as Zeke and White commanded the scoreboard, putting up a combined 53 points, which was matched by the Rainbows' Gordon and Cook. Locked going into the final game Monday night, fans were blessed with a showdown between big play specialists, Tyreek Hill (Rainbows) and Emanuel Sanders (Raviolis). Disappointingly, both players failed to pull through for their team, putting up 6 points each, and instead it was Kicker, Harrison Butker, who put his best foot forward and won it late for GM Connor and the Rainbows 120-114. Ravagn' Rainbows improve to 3-1 while last weeks momentum dies down for the Ravioli's as they look to find a win next week to add another win to their 1-3 record.
- Hoochie Mamas (2-2) faced the Big Papis (1-3) in another high scoring affair. Despite the best efforts from Hopkins, Burton, and Crosby for the Huge Times, Hoochie Mamas earned a 20 point victory on the backs of an amazing performance from their entire team. Only 1 player failed to surpass 10 points on their way to a 127-107 victory while both Thomas and Drake immensely disappointed for GM Kurt.
- Our remaining 3 matchups all included blowups as Mr. Nice Guy (2-2) pounds Crunching Munchies (0-4), Miking Mikes (2-2) pummels Belichick Yo Self (2-2), and Tittsburgh Feelers (3-1) pounces on Grafton's A Bum (1-3). A mash of the highlights from these three blowouts:
- Mr. Nice Guy and the Rams trio put up 90 points on Thursday followed by Julio and TY tag teaming for 30 putting the efforts from Gio and Rivers in vain.
- Kamara puts up 36 points, over half of Belichick Yo Self's entire score (68)!
- Watson, Cooper, and Hunt (78) defeat Grafton's A Bum without any need for help from Fuller, Howard, or Collins.
Media Conferences: Introducing a new segment to the Weekly Wrap-up, we will get an inside look in the minds of Managers around the league. Filled with reactions from the past weeks performances and plans for the upcoming matchups, make sure to never miss an article to stay up to date with all the news in the league!
GM Brody allowed reporters into the locker room giving the media a sneak peak as he celebrated with his Scoregasms after a victory over GM Dominic and Pasca's Daddy. Brody offered some advice to the rest of the teams below him, explaining the secret to success was quite simple, "stay humble and grind hard... and pay off your opponents accordingly." Look for Scoregasms to continue their winning ways against the Tittsburgh Feelers.
GM Connor held a press conference after a close victory over the Ravioli's. The Rainbows have gotten off to a blazing hot start to the season, currently in 2nd place with a 3-1 record and leading the league in scoring. When asked to comment on his 3rd straight week atop the power rankings, Connor sighed and gloated, "this game is too easy [and I] can't wait to ravage the rest of these weak shitheads." Connor and Ravagn' Rainbows will look to stay true to their promise against a daunting Miking Mike's team.
Weakly Awards:
- Murphy Mixup:
GM Kurt returns to claim the week 4 Murphy Mixup by starting struggling RB Kenyan Drake who put up a solid 1.6 points. Left on the bench, was WR Golden Tate who, along with his 25 points, could have rotated into the flex position and secured the victory for the Huge Times. That's got to be tough to know that one mistake cost you the game.
- Oh Boy! Play of the Week:
GM Connor and the Rainbows pulled through a victory this week in large part thanks to the 23 points put up by newly acquired Green Bay defense. Excellent matchup analysis and waiver wire awareness by Connor boosted his team to yet another victory in an otherwise even matchup.
- WTF Waiver Wire:
GM Brody may have gotten a sneaky steal, picking up RB Tarik Cohen with a simple $1 bid. Cohen exploded this week getting 20 touches for over 170 yards and a TD. In a position that is constantly filled with injuries and committees that Kelly seems to love to own, GM Brody may have a great RB to play as the bye's come into play if Cohen can continue to see an expansion in usage.
- DTDB Moment of the Week:
As GM Dominic began to lose stamina after starting strong, Darren took week 4 as an opportunity to climb back on top and dicktate the rhythm of this duet, however, when he looked down at his newly subdued prey, he saw David instead. Dominic took this week's expedition off and tapped David in who offered no resistance as Darren pounded him raw, tearing a hole in his defenses and nearly doubling his score. David was left whimpering about Brees' lack of TDs. Darren after regathering his confidence will look to keep back up with Dominic next week as the gap closes between them with only a one game difference.
Next Week's Matchups: Week 5 brings us our second round of Rivalry Matchups and as the second third of the season kicks off, all these games are important wins as teams look to set their midseason form.
- Miking Mikes (2-2) vs Ravagn' Rainbows (3-1): Wildcat Matchup of the Week
Two longtime rivals meet in a midseason matchup that will set the tone for the next portion of the season, providing us with a potential preview of their late season matchup which will certainly have major playoff implications. It will be important for each of their high flying offenses to get off to a hot start here in week 5 and secure an early season victory to aid in their campaign. With the Rainbows appearing to be back to full strength, look for Hill and Juju to bounce back with strong performances, supported by Gordon and Cook. GM Darren and the Mikes will put up a close fight with Kamara and bounce back games from Rodgers and Allen, however an injured Gronk does not help the cause. This one could easily come down to the difference between supporting flex players, Brown and Kupp.
- Hoochie Mamas (2-2) vs Pasca's Daddy (3-1):
GM August meets GM Dominic in a week 5 game that is just as important for their managers' pride as it is to their records. With the two teams trending in opposite directions and each missing star WRs to bye weeks, look for the superior depth of the Mamas to secure the victory as Corey Davis making up for Hyde's poor performance while Chris Thompson nearly edges a late Monday Night comeback against the Saints abysmal defense.
- Belichick Yo Self (2-2) vs Crunching Munchies (0-4):
GM David will look to bounce back from some awful gameplay last week as he faces a winless and hapless GM Michael and the Munchies. The return of Freeman and Ingram will set the advantage for the Munchies as the finally get a win over the Yo Selfs despite Brown and Michel torching the unfortunate Atlanta and Indianapolis defenses.
- Grafton's A Bum (1-3) vs Bigpapihugetime (1-3):
Debuting the newest Bum to the squad, GM Kelly will hope Aaron Jones, acquired via trade, will put up a strong showing to lead the Bums to victory. WR Michael Thomas doesn't care and will shut down any hopes for an upset here.
- Mr. Nice Guy (2-2) vs Ravioli Ravioli (1-3):
Two teams gaining momentum as the season draws on clash in what should easily become a shootout. GM Grafton will be wishing he could have saved his 90 point trio performance for this week as the Ravioli's will put up terrific numbers with a star-studded matchup that welcomes WR Edelman back to break the deadlock in this one.
- Scoregasms (4-0) vs Tittsburgh Feelers (3-1):
GM Brody string of easy matchups ends here as Watson and Hunt of the Feelers will lead a comeback, chipping away at the early lead set by Brady and Gostkowski for the Scoregasms. David Johnson will finally break out of his slump to lead the Scoregasms and continue their undefeated run.
So there you have it. As the Weekly Wrap-up concludes, make sure to get all of your homework done by Saturday, as the Week 5 rivalry matchups are sure to be loaded with close games with big opportunities for Sunday and Monday Night comebacks. Good luck to everyone this week, especially to all the 0-4 teams who desperately need a victory. Catch ya on the flip side...
