Season Preview
Greetings fellow General Managers and Owners within Millbrook Fantasy League and welcome back to the Millbrook Fantasy Weekly Wrap-Up. The draft has finished and teams have begun to finalize their rosters in preparation for their week 1 rivalry matchups. The competition in the league is higher than we have ever seen before in this 4th season of the league with managers beginning to show supreme analysis through draft strategies and predictive waiver wire additions. All except for GM Brody of Scoregasms, who has yet to actually draft his own team despite it being his 4th season and one of its founders. They will face off against Ravioli Ravioli and GM Ian who will hope ZEKE and CMC make headlines consistently this year to get back to the playoffs.
Grafton, GM of Mr. Nice Guy, has particularly expressed his growth and experience this preseason by adopting a strong offensive team strategy by drafting the Big 3 of the Rams offense to lead his fantasy team this season. He also previewed his trading charisma and waiver wire awareness by securing what easily could be the trade of the year by obtaining Julio Jones and new starting RB Alfred Morris from Bend it Like Beckham, while also picking up James Conner to stack his bench while Le'veon Bell continues to holdout despite week 1 rapidly approaching. Mr. Nice Guy looks to continue on last year's success of their first playoff berth, with a strong season in 2018, and these early moves have certainly put them on the right track as they look to prove to to the rest of the league they are not to be laughed at. They face off against powerhouse Miking Mikers who possess the best player in 4 different positions while also being led by last year’s breakout star, Alvin Kamara. Despite appearing to be a potential favorite to win the league, the rest of the league should not worry as GM Darren is bound to make countless mistakes on Add/Drop and Start/Sit decisions throughout the year, getting knocked out in the first round of the playoffs yet again.
Kelly on the other hand, continues to show lackluster performance and questionable decision making, being on the other hand of that blockbuster trade. Losing Julio and Alfred Morris for a measly RB2 in Jamaal Williams and irrelevant bench stash WRs in Josh Doctson and Calvin Ridley. Looking to improve on last seasons disappointing debut, Bend it Like Beckham has a lot of work to do if they hope to finish anywhere near the wildcard position, relying on Odell to lead the team to victory. Especially as they face a tough week 1 matchup against last year’s Bronze position Belichick Yo Self
Returning champion Kurt looks to build a dynasty for BigPapiHugeTime and continue its 100% playoff berth rate with another entry this season. Hosting arguably the greatest WR corps in the league, the Papis are led by Hopkins and Michael Thomas, with a strong supporting cast with breakout candidate RBs, Drake and Mixon, will look to get off to a fast start with a win over another fellow champion from 2015, Ravigin Rainbows and their GM, Connor, and his menacing RB duo of Gordon and Cook. Ravigin Rainbows will hope to summon the Luck of the Irish to launch a strong campaign to return to the glory of the past. Should they fail however, GM Connor will instead just remind everyone that he won the league that one time many years ago so it doesn’t matter how he does now.
The rivalry between Crunching Munchies and First and Shlong gets two new editions to the saga, starting in week 1 as GM Michael and the Munchies look to get their first victory over GM Dominic and the Shlongs after going 0-3 in previous seasons. Led by RB duo Fournette and Freeman, they will look to finally avenge last year’s horrific playoff defeat with a victory to kick off the season against Bell, Lynch, Thielen and Co.
Finally, the Feelers host the Hoochie Mamas (more commonly known as the Brown’s running backs, or even their other nickname: Pure Shit). GM August, winner of the McClendog Worst Draft Award, is all in and rolling the dice on rookie Saquon Barkley, trading 3 draft picks for him in hopes he can spark his team out of its 9th place slumber from last year. Against Matt and the Tittsburgh Feelers, this might be the matchup August needs to start the season as the Feelers finished dead last the previous year. However, looking to bolster its running game, GM Matt made what could be the steal of the draft by taking RB Jordan Howard in the 2nd round to support Kareem Hunt.
As we celebrate the kickoff the season, here are my week 1 Picks and Predictions:
- Bend it Like Beckham feels the pain of no Julio as the fall to Belichick Yo Self and AB.
- ZEKE and CMC lead the Raviolis to victory over Scoregasms.
- Despite Julio debut for Mr. Nice Guy, Miking Mikers take the win thanks to Trade Block Gronk.
- Hoochie Mamas’ star, Barkley struggles and they fall to Tittsburgh Feelers
- Crunching Munchies finally defeat First and Shlong after a long game thanks to Bell not cumming to practice and Fournette exploding to greatness.
Wildcat Matchup of the Week:
Ravigin Rainbows defeats BigPapiHugeTime in a close one thanks to Big Ben who outperforms Russell Wilson while Gordon and Cook put up big numbers with 3 combined TDs. Mixon struggles and lets down the Huge Times despite heroic performances from Hopkins and Thomas.
That’s all for the Season Preview. Tune in next week for a recap of the week 1 matchups and a look into week 2 and our first week of waiver wire FAAB Budget. Good Luck to all teams this season (except for Dom), and may this be our best Fantasy Season yet!
